Install ClockworkMod Recovery without ROM Manager

We all know that cwm is one of the best recoveries. I recently posted how you can install it through rom manager here. But if you don’t have internet access on your phone then rom manager cannot be used to flash recovery. But don’t worry! There is still a way.

Note:Your device must be rooted. This method is for advanced users and installing through rom manager is always recommended.

  1. Install terminal emulator from here.
  2. Go here and download recovery for your device.(If your device is not listed, you can google for the recovery or find it on xda. If you can still not find it, mention it in the comment and I will try to find it.)
  3. Rename it to recovery.img.
  4. Copy the file to the root of your sd card.
  5. Open terminal emulator and type ‘su’.
  6. Superuser will ask if you want to give root access. Select allow/grant.
  7. Now type ‘dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p32’.
  8. Your recovery is flashed.

    its give error like flash_image not found cn u briefly explain m dis plz bro

    I cant find the cwm 6.0.4.4 for Xperia P. I googled it 100 times but nothing.. via Rom manager I get the message that my device is nog supporteed/not listed above. Can you help me?

  64. I have inadvertently installed a rom for the wrong sub-model of my phone and now I don’t get wifi and it doesn’t see the SIM. I therefore can’t run ROM manager (installed from the apk). You start by saying installe the terminal emulator – please can you explain how to do that without internet access.

  70. Sir ,I’m using Bsnl penta ws702c tablet .I successfully rooted my device. I want to hard format my device using recovery mode but when I press the (volume up power button ) it comes only chinese letters which was only for device general settings changement.So I tried google as possible but failed to find cwm for my device.Kindly help me 😦

  82. I gave a pop c3 and reset the phone and now only 5% battery lights and logo appears Alcatel OneTouch pop c3 and so …… they can do something?
